Thank You
Our requests for a layout designer for Postscript to replace Nicole Shuttleworth have been successful. Two people have expressed interest, Julie Chambers and Sarah Dehn.
Julie who has just completed a degree in graphic design lives in Mildura, so with modern communications it is possible to manage the publication process at a distance. Sarah's past experience doing the programmes for The Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra will also make her a valuable asset.
Again many thanks to Nicole who has done this issue which is much appreciated.
The Calligraphy Society publishes a well-designed twenty page bi-monthly magazine. It keeps members up-to-date with information on workshops, interesting articles, ideas, news and of course as much calligraphy as we possibly can.
The magazine arrives in your letterbox in a calligraphically-addressed envelope too! Many of our members live in the country, interstate or overseas so Postscript is an important way to stay up to date. For anyone interested in calligraphy it’s worth joining the Society just for the magazine!
April - May 2012 Edition
This edition features the calligraphic work of one of the Society's eminent calligraphers Gemma Black and contains a 4 page colour spread exhibiting some of her many works.
The society has some history for sale in the form of old Postscripts.
There is an interesting article including photos taken on a recent trip to Iran by Geraldine Barry. Arabic script and Persian designs make for wonderful calligraphy.
There is a report on the Calligraphy Society Display at the Stonnington Library in Toorak which was in place all April.
Also there are workshop reports and interesting bits and pieces as well as new items in the Library, along with reports on Exhibitions.
As always included towards the back in this edition are, besides the President's report, In the Library, On the workshop front, and calligraphy tips.
