This is a two day workshop of Roman heaven with Graham McArthur. Graham is a whizz with these beautiful , fine, slender letters. We will learn to refine the letters we already know. We will be working in pencil as well as pen and ink. We will look at the formal letters and then take a stroll down the contrmporary road, we may twist them and turn them into something different.

We might even get a small project happening, who knows as Graham always has lots of supprises for us.

THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR THOSE WITH KNOWLEDGE OF ROMAN CAPS. NOT SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS.

This two Saturday short course will be for beginners, the very basics of the Roman alphabet, which is the basis for so many of the lettering styles you will discover along your calligraphic journey. This short course will be only TWO DAYS but as usual with our short courses you will have homework to do between the days.

You will learn the basic letter forms in pencil before moving on to tackle pen and ink. You will learn the ever important Roman proportions which you will use forever and a day in your calligraphic work. Romans are elegant letter forms and can stand alone in any art forms.

As we know Graham produces the most beautiful Roman caps and a lot of his contemporary work with gesso etc. is graced with Roman caps in pencil. Probably the most beautiful letters you will ever learn.
